    problem booting remaster-image from harddisk

    Hi!

    I need some help remastering knoppix.
    I followed the first steps described in this howto:
    http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13867 (Remaster KNOPPIX the easy way using menu based remaster scripts)[url]

    first i created a fs on /dev/hdb2
    Code:
    mke2fs -vj /dev/hdb2
    i started knoppix from cd (version 3.6) started the remasterscript.
    i chose "create new remaster" and extracted the cd in /mnt/hdb2

    NOW I WANT TO BOOT THIS COPY

    when copying is finished i restart linux from harddisk. i copy the isolinux-directory to /boot (cp -Rp /cdrom/boot/isolinux /boot)
    and insert the following into /etc/lilo.conf
    Code:
    image=/boot/isolinux/linux26
            initrd=/boot/isolinux/minirt26.gz
            label="KNOPPIX"
            append="lang=de usb2 splash fromhd=/dev/hdb2 home=scan myconfig=scan apm=power-off"
            root=/dev/hdb2
            read-only
    i run lilo, restart and choose KNOPPIX. now ths leads to an error. it tells me that / has a bad superblock
    can anybody figure out what i've done wrong. i know it must work s.th. like this because it already worked some
    time before (just removed the old image and found the old lilo-entry but i cant remember how i've done it exactly)

    i'm grateful for any help!!!

    I get an error message like this:

    Checking root filesystems...
    fsck 1.35-WIP (31-Jan-2004)
    fsck.ext2: is a directory while trying to open /
    /:

    The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid ant it really contains an etxt2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:

    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

    fsck failed. Please repait mannually and reboot. Please note that the root filesystem is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write:

    #mount -n -o remount,rw

    CONTROL-D will exit from this shell and reboot the system

    root@console#

    Hi,

    i found another way to do it.

    1. instead of using the remaster script to copy knoppix 3.7 to harddisk i used the hdd-installer.
    2. The i booted another linux installation and copied the KNOPPIX.Build from the remaster-script directory into the harddisk-installation.
    3. I copied the directory structure of the cd to the KNOPPIX.build/Knoppix.Master/KNOPPIX-CUSTOM/ directory inside my harddisk installation
    4 Then i rebooted into my harddisk installation and modified it
    5 last step: reboot into another linux installation and run the remaster-script on the harddisk installation.
    6. done
