install knoppix 3.1 on hdd

hi guys
I have trouble installing knoppix 3.1 on hdd it does not have any cheats to install it so i did it manually in 2 ways both both don'nt seem 2 work
First i booted from cd coppied evevrything to ext3 part with mount point /knoppix and setup lilo it doesnot seem to recognize my parttion it checks for badblocks and gives me a shell.
I tried copying knoppix (shell script ) from cd to vfat and then setup my lilo it gives kernel panic
Can some one help me here please.

Just dug out my old 3.1 disk to be sure. Knoppix 3.1 does have a HD installer, the command is knx-hdinstall. You must be root, of course.
