I have noticed that an old computer (233mhz IBM PC-300XL, HP Vectra and others) do get a performance problem that is quite rare... It gets to a problem when it comes to timeouts (like tcp/ip, nfs ssh and so on...)

When i type# sleep 1
it takes around 5-6 seconds
and when i type# time sleep 1
it takes 5-6 seconds but it reports 1 second...

First I thought that there is a problem with the rtc module but it wasn't.

After installing and plain Debian to the same release as your Knoppix it works fine (a logical second is a real second) after that i install your debpackets and try them in the same startorder and it works super until i try the ddcxinfo-knoppix binary in ddcxinfo-knoppix_0.5-5_386.deb... (#ddcxinfo-knoppix -monitor) and after that sleep took 5 seconds!

There must be a strange problem since the computer clock actually goes slower after running the binary

The computer do all have a lot of memory all of them +192mb)
