3.7 Poor mans install using floppy boot
My knoppix history.
I used 3.3 on my old laptop which i had installed as a poor mans install which i booted using loadlin.
However now i use Win ME which because of the lack of dos boot i cant use loadlin. Using a dos
boot disk doesnt work as i dont have enough ram.
I know that i cant use 3.4 as it has no boot floppy anymore but what about 3.7? from 3.4 onwards is there
no way to boot from a floppy disk?
I only have space for a poor mans install so no installation.
is it possible to use grub or lilo to boot a poor mans install are their any other ways i can do it?

As far as I remember win me is the same as 98 except that MS removed the dos files, but if you copy them back there, it will work just as well as on 98. Or in other word, you can start grub.exe from the config.sys with the following line:
shell=grub.exe --config-file=(hd0,0)/menu.lst and obviously copy and modify the menu.lst, kernel and ramdisk in your drive. You can get grub.exe from grubd.zip from this forum link: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11796
Hope this help, Gilles

see these howtos for how to boot a poormans using lilo. you may have to install lilo running from CD and you will have to install the boot files running from CD as Knoppix poormans locks the partition where the poormans is installed. http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Remaster..._Install_HowTo

Both. I prefer GRUB, because any future changing of boot options becomes a simple matter of editing a text file (instead of reinvoking LILO, which seems to be broken in KNOPPIX 3.7 release anyway).
Here is a way to do it with GRUB:
