I recently bought 4 new ASUS K8S-MX AMD64 SATA mATX mobos for OpenMosix clustering using ClusterKnoppix or Quantian. They boot very nicely with the recent KANOTIX 2005.1 disc (2.6.10 kernel). But the latest ClusterKnoppix/Quantian won't boot at all. These use 2.4.27-OM kernels.

I have turned off (in many different combinations) all peripheral/SATA/ACPI/APIC/USB in the BIOS and tried all relevant boot cheatcode combos. Normal boot mode gives up immediately after the little penguin is displayed in the upper right corner, whereas expert/failsafe gets a bit further in the boot process but halts somewhere in the middle of the IDE configuration. There is no kernel panic, it just stops and does nothing. The only attached drive was a standard ATA CD-ROM.

I have found some references to a SiS SATA compatibility issue over at: http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/arc...p/t-32585.html

I really want to be able to boot the 2.4 kernel series to be able to use OpenMosix, but frankly I have no idea what might be the error and have found nothing about ASUS K8S-MX and 2.4 kernels on Google. So please, if anyone here has this mobo, could you please consider to try booting a Knoppix disc with 2.4/2.6 kernels and see/report how it behaves.

Regards,
Andreas

** PCI interrupts are no longer routed automatically. If this
