read-only troubble

Okay i am using a dell M350WVN laptop
2.66 ghz P4
512mb ram
intel extream graphics
cd-rv/dvd-rom drive
2usb ports
4pin firewire
40gb hdd
partitioning looks like this

hda1 ext2 1.95 gb i have used the tohd command to copy knoppix here and am now using fromhd to boot
hda2 Fat16 1.00 gb this is the knoppix swapspace it has a knoppix.swp on it no spare room
hda3 ext2 2.93 gb this has the persistant home drive
hda4 Fat32 955 mb i have the saved config here

How can i use the apt-get command and make it work each time i try to run the update in the root cosole i get this

a whole lot of read only errors how should i go about correcting this

btw i am using the 3.6 ver of knopppix with the knoppix26 command at boot

You cannot use apt-get with a tohd install, it must be a full hd install. You can install applications to a tohd install using klik. You must have a persistent home to do this.
