Knoppix "Beginner" install.. have startup NOT prob

I have a "Knoppix beginner" installed on my laptop.. Everything works great but when it
boots into X Knoppix ignores the manual setting I have in my XF86Config (XF86Config-4)
file.

How can I have all the advantages of the "Beginner" install but have it *not* prob for
the screen resolution?

Try this boot parameter (cheatcode): nomkxfconfig - so, depending on how things look at boot time, you might have a line like this:

knoppix nomkxfconfig

If it works, and you're using a bootloader, it can be added to the bootloader's configuration file so that this is done automatically for you each time. Or you can edit /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig so it doesn't perform that action.
