Monitor won't respond

when I boot and it checks everything it says everything is recognized, but when it says Starting xwindows, the monitor screen stays black, and won't do nothing, the thing is that the light on th monitor stays greens, it doens't seem as if the monitor is not recieving signal, it just won't show up, monitor is a Phillips Magnavox, Vid card is GeForce FX5200 128MB

nvm, just fixed it!

how did you fix it?

changed the monitor resolution, at boot screen press F3 then type knoppix screen=800x600
that was it ^_^
