I have a "intro to computers" prof (easy A, bring the GPA up and get 3 credits for not going to class) he has a schpeal about the importance of not just knowing a few programs perfectly, but rather knowing many moderatly well. He calls it being computer literate. I agree with him. It IS nice to be able to look at any program and have a general idea what every thing does in the menus the first time i see them. In order to be truely computer literate one must have experiance on multiple OSs. What are the main OSs that you wonderfull people suggest?
I have now used
windows XP
windows ME
Mac OS 6 to 7.5.3
Knoppix (on cd)
Debian (knoppix hard drive install)
I am still plowing through getting a "standard" debian install working correctly, bu ti have used it in a comp lab
and
red hat 8
What else should i add to that?
BSD..... and?
