boot option for static ip and please add a recursing

something like knoppix staticip=192.32.12.12
then when the system boots it would recognize the static ip
and start the recursing nameserver like pdns or djbdns and then
add the localhost to resolv.conf

This would make it much more useful as you could then bypass the ISP
dns and avoid problems they often have.

Is this too crazy or just not useful to people? Or is it already possible? This seems like
an option that more people would request.
