monitor displays nothing when starting knoppix
i've just recently downloaded knoppix, and i burned it onto a cd, hoping i would be able to use it by today. i stick the disk into my drive, wait for my computer to boot up, get the the little "do you want to use knoppix" screen, pressed enter, and......nothing.
when i pressed enter, a little message that said "Out of Range popped up onto my monitor. how can i fix this so that i can view Knoppix?
my monitor is a Microtek 710S
My video card is an SIS 650 (i belieive; its something like that)
i'm using Knoppix 3.9
if there is anymore information i should provide, please ask.

It sounds like knoppix is doing the best it can at autodetecting the video hardware (perhaps getting it wrong) & then setting a resolution & refresh rate that is beyond the capabilities of the hardware. Try booting knoppix with some Cheat Codes, such as:
knoppix screen=800x600 xvrefresh=60
knoppix screen=640x480 xvrefresh=60
I hope this helps.

thanks for your help, but unfortunately this didnt resolve the problem
the same message is popping up on my monitor.....any other ideas as to what to do?

I have the same problem when booting up, the screen resolution & refresh rate is different so during start up the screen become distorted.
I am new to Knoppix, can anyone teach me where to find boot prompt to configure it and save the configuration to the harddisk so the next boot up can start to that setting.

should i mention that when the message "Out of Range", its a monitor message, coming from the monitor. Knoppix is not delivering the message.
agh i'm so confused.

Have a look at the cheatcodes, especially the Tips & Tricks.
If you are unable to book Knoppix, try one or both of these two boot commands:
boot: knoppix vga=0 debug -b 3
...
boot: failsafe debug -b 3
Are you able to get to the final stage? If not, what is the last stage you are able to get to?
