Knoppix v3.8.1 Livecd Boot problem

I have been able to boot from the livecd on my 2 systems however when i gave the cd to my friend, she got the error:
insmod error: inserting 'modules/cloop.o' -1 bad file number while booting,interesting the cd does work on her laptop, just not the desktop. I am totally noob so any help would be appreciated. May i add, livecd is needed only to enable chatting thru gaim and network is based on ethernet connected to the router, dhcp enabled.

It may be the CDR media itself. I've seen different CDR brands burned on different CDR burners with being read with different CDROM drives on the very same system produce both corrupt & non-corrupt Knoppix CD. It is not easy to narrow down, so first make sure the md5sum is correct. Then try to boot using the cheat code: knoppix testcd
