hello ..
i successfully booted knoppix 3.8 from the harddisk using cheat code

my grub.conf

title knoppix
root (hd0,7)
kernel /boot/isolinux/linux ramdisk_size=100000 fromhd=/dev/hda8 2 noeject noprompt
initrd /boot/isolinux/....gz

when i reboot the machine it stops at

Preparing to reboot.....

similarly when i halt the machine it wont switch off.

Machine configuration : P4 , atx cabinet
