I tried several times to install Linux on my Sony laptop and gave up. I researched amd researched. The problem was the CD-ROM would become non-fuctional when rebooting during install. Since i am not Linux savvy i started saving for a all-Linux laptop.
Then for the heck of it i stuff Knoppix in and my Sony frickin boots! Into a full GUI! With sound! The only problem i encountered was the sound was not quite right. When playing Galaxia it was bursty, like the kung fu action theatre 2x4 claps. But hey, i can deal working out problems as minor as that!
Now if i can get this to dual boot with my windows 2000 and work with my linksys wireless card i am going to be in some serious business!
Many thanks to the developes of Knoppix!
