Boot with the CD. Take a look at /etc/lilo.conf.
If it looks OK, do:
sudo /sbin/lilo
which should leave you with Lilo on the mbr.
For reference, my box is a Dell 2350 and I boot knoppix with a "screen=1280x1024 depth=24 acpi=off" string. I want my main partition (/, hda1) to be formatted with ext3 and not reiserfs.
If booting from a 3.9 Knoppix CD and choosing 'sudo knoppix-installer', then following all prompts through to the end, Knoppix 3.9 is installed and hda1 is a reiserfs partition. This installation works normally
Booting from CD and entering 'sudo knoppix-installer-latest-web' brings down version 3.14 of the install script. hda1 is formatted with ext3, and the install proceeds as normal. When rebooting, the machine stops in a minimal GRUB prompt and nothing more happens.
Pressing TAB shows possible commands but I am clueless about how to continue booting. I prefer LILO.
Help and thanks, Bob (tilleyrw@gmail.com)
