(each destination path is prepended by /mnt/target during install
time)
The runlevel directories /etc/rc[023456S].d are emptied and filled
with
symlinks from the templates tarball
(/usr/local/lib/knx-templates-*.tgz)
Some symlinks in /etc/rc5.d are deleted, depending on the user's
choice
which services to run at boot time.
/etc/init.d/keymap.sh is replaced with one of the keymap.sh-$LANG
files
from the templates, depending on $LANG setting.
Device symlinks for /dev/mouse and /dev/cdrom are created.
/etc/profile and /etc/inittab are replaced by files from the template
to remove login-less root shells (security).
/etc/motd is changed to reflect the actual kernel version.
/etc/modules is contructed from the currently loaded modules (the ones
loaded by Knoppix hardware detection).
/etc/inputrc is replaced by a file from the template to allow 8-bit
chars input.
/etc/fstab is created, depending on the chosen root/swap partitions
and
the other partitions found by Knoppix.
/etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh is modified for turning on DMA for hard disks.
XF86Config[-4] (generated by Knoppix) is copied to /etc/X11.
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/45xsession is disabled (moved to /root).
/etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config is changed to fix a problem with X server
authorization in xdm.
/etc/kde[23]/kdm/kdmrc is changed to fix a problem with X server
authorization in kdm.
/etc/hosts, /etc/hostname, /etc/mailname are changed to the
user-specified host name.
/etc/network/interfaces, /etc/resolv.conf are changed (by
netcardconfig)
if at least one ethernet interface was found.
/etc/inetd.conf is replaced by a file from the templates (all services
disabled by default) (security).
/etc/sudoers is changed to remove unrestricted root access for user
knoppix (security).
Knoppix menu entries depending on the former sudo config are removed.
Knoppix-generated i18n is copied to /etc/sysconfig.
/etc/alternatives/soffice.* is replaced by the actual languange config
(dunno exactly, Klaus included this).
/etc/hosts.allow is changed to be less restrictive (from templates).
/tmp is created as a "normal" directory (not a symlink to
/var/tmp).
/etc/mtab is created as a regular file (not a symlink to
/proc/mounts).
/etc/skel/.kde/share/config/kpersonalizerrc is changed so that kde
first time config is active when a user starts kde for the first time.
/home/knoppix is created and /etc/skel contents are copied into.
Passwords are set for users root and knoppix, /etc/shadow is modified.
An initrd.gz is created if certain kernel modules are needed at boot
time (before mounting the root filesystem). If installing to a SCSI
hard disk and/or using ext3, reiserfs, xfs as root filesystem,
initrd.gz is created.
/etc/lilo.conf is created by genliloconf.
Boot floppy creation does not change any files on hard disk.
bye,
Chris
