    OH MY God 3.7!!!

    I have been working on (blundering through) a remaster for knoppix for web applications. I stuck with 3.7 -en to keep things simple for the people who this thing is for. (i.e.no having to find the relevant cheatcodes etc.) and also for me as I have never done this before. Anyway my disc is b******** and I thought this may be why I kept getting dynamic link libraries full no link to /var something or other when I did dselect update until I loaded my spare CDR (as I can't find 3.7 anywhere on the net) and went to look for my packages tomcat5, apache2 etc,but they are gone/not showing in the install list anymore.. All of this worked only a few days ago. ( I have messed up and reinstalled many many many times over the past week) Now I realise that it wasn't my disc or my fault!. You've killed 3.7!!! Whhhyyyyy!!

    You mean you can't find the iso for 3.7? Here: ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/dist/knoppix

    Thanks for the iso information. Do you know where all the packages have gone. up until this weekend I could do apt-cache search for all sorts of packages and then install them but when I do it now nothing happens (planner ,mysql-4.1,apache2, tomcat5 etc).. I can only get the stuff thats on the disc

    Have you checked that your repos are working? Could be that you need older ones than these though, might even have to compile from source.

    3.7

    What are my repos?? When I do dselect update I get the message that there's no space for memory left . Has anything else changed.I have been using

    apt-cache search<package> not apt-cache policy, but when I type apt-cache policy it just says "unable to locate tomcat5"etc

    What about installing cos when I do
    apt-get install <package>
    nothing happens for the packages I am looking for. I am confused because up until weekend I could get evrything but since thewn it all stopped.

    The memory thingy is probably due to your /var/cache/apt/archives being full. Either run "apt-get clean" or raise the limit in apt.conf. Then run "dselect update" again.
    markus@mrk-fujibox:~$ cat /etc/apt/apt.conf
    APT:efault-Release "unstable";
    APT::Cache-Limit 10000000;
    Apt::Get::Purge;

    BTW, with repos I meant repositories.

    OMG 3.7!!

    Sorry I took so long to reply.In between times I installed 3.9 against my better judgement and am trying it with that. I got all the software although I had a bit of trouble with mysql I think it's working. Now comes the bit I have never done before where I make the actual dis (I have been at this stage several times and then crashed and burned)c. I am going to see if I manage to finish this without messing up again and then try it with my 3.7 download because of the automatic hardware configuration. The thanks of a grateful british national goes out to you XXX
