Games Knoppix 4.0.2-0.3 -- Windows Partition PMI Support

If you read DistroWatch.com, you've noticed that Games Knoppix 4.0.2-0.3 is out.

Would anyone make support for a Windows Partition PMI? or the zip from http://s94002264.onlinehome.us/grub/kno40.zip can be used as well?

    Thanks.

I am downloading it right now... As soon as I get it, I will work on it.
If the kernel and the initrd.gz are the same on both ISOs, most likely the matching initrd_ntfs.gz will work.
    Cheers, Gilles

At the first look, the kernel is identical to the 401 official release, but the initrd is longer. I don't have the time to work on it now, but I will check it during the we. It may work using the 401 kernel and minirt_ntfs.gz, cf: http://s94002264.onlinehome.us/grub/kno401.zip Let me know. Best Regards, Gilles

I haven't been enabled to download the iso, yet. I couldn't use the ftp because too many people was connected. I'll try to use the torrent at home when I get back.

I guess by the time I download it, you'll be done testing it over the weekend.

I'll let you know if I get done before

The kernel, linuxrc and kernel module drivers are identical to the 401 official release, but the unionfs driver. So the http://s94002264.onlinehome.us/grub/kno401.zip works just fine for me. Let me know. Best Regards, Gilles

    It worked.

I'm running it as I type this. Thanks Gilles.

    OT:
    - I'm not sure if unionfs is working right or not. I tried apt-get update and it frozen. maybe I have to change source.list.
    - I got grafic accelaration with my radeon 9600 out of the box, but I got problems when I move the mouse

Try this: http://s94002264.onlinehome.us/grub/gkno402.zip , it includes the Knoppix Game unionfs driver, and let me know if it works better... Cheers, Gilles
Edit: renamed kno402.zip to gkno402.zip because of official 4.02 release.

    EDITED

    apt-get update works better.
I have to use some keys and comment all the stable rep on sources.list because I got a time out error.

    however, when I do:
apt-get install billard-gl (I use it to make sure I have graphic acceleration)
the game install fine, but X freeze up. I can't use anymore the menu.

Tried to install the wincodecs and the same

I managed to use Ctrl-Alt-F1 and do init 3, but when I try to get back with init 5 I got something like:
    <7> mttr:No MTRR for e000000,40000 found

I tried one more time and the same, this time I use Ctrl-Shift-Backspace to kill X and all the system froze up.

    btw:
    HP Pavillion 7966 1.7Ghz Pentium 4

    initrd (hd0,1)/boot/kno402/minirt_ntfs.gz

Just in case I'm missing something

Unionfs is still buggy, reason for Klaus not to release the official 4.02 cd/dvd, cf link: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20612 So, we just need to wait a little bit longer, and help the unionfs team... Best Regards, Gilles
