It really want's sarcasm, I'm sorry it came across that way. I just wanted to point out the CD and DVD versions and it was clear that I didn't need to explain what these were to you beyond pointing out the difference in the names, so I looked for a quick way to end the discussion. My sarcasm comes in when, as was actually the case on this website recently, someone asks why KNOPPIX_V4.0.2DVD-2005-09-23-EN will not fit on their 700 meg CD.

BT should be easy, but if you have any questions ask. It is important to your download speed to properly forward the correct ports in your router (assuming and hoping that you have one).

I do apologise for the misinterpretation here, this is the only problems with emails, sms and txt reading, one can not see facial expressions from the person that has written, i never once thought you were being sarcastic, what i meant was, i was being sarcastic, i wrote phd as sarcasm because there were a lot of personal questions being asked, therefore i do not have a phd "the phd was sarcasm" lol hope, and i'm sure you do. understand, now i am a little confused here, why would i need a router, is it not a straight forward download?
    Regards

You do not need a router to download. And having a router and downloading with BitTorrent will actually make things very slightly more comples; one extra setup step is needed to forward a range of ports in the router toi the computer runnig BitTorrent. What you want a router for, among other things, is safely when running a high speed connection. If you have an ethernet connection (not one of those damn USB only connection that should never exist), and you don't have a router built into your modem, consider adding one to your connection (A.S.A.P.) These things are dirt cheap now. When I got mine it was a bit over $100, now you can even get ones with wifi capability for $10 or less after rebate. CompUSA has a Netgear Wired/Wireless router for $2.99 after rebate this week! A router will give you a hardware firewalla nd a lot more security with a high speed connection, particularly when running Windows. And it will make Knoppix network setup much more simple than DSL setup without a router.

Maybe we can simplify this (assuming you have an internet connection and are using windows) -5 easy pieces-:

    1. Go here: http://www.bittorrent.com/ and download and install the windows bittorrent program (you won't need to start it again because when you download a .torrent file it automatically starts bittorrent and that automatically starts downloading the .iso file)

    2. Go here: http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/ and choose the knoppix 4.02 dvd (or CD).EN to download the small .torrent file which will then automatically start bittorrent program and automatically start to save the .iso file to your harddrive (if the transfer is interupted or you have to shut down the computer, just click the small .torrent file in explorer to resume download)

    3. After you have the .iso file (cd or dvd, whichever you donwloaded) use NERO or some other windows CD/DVD burner to burn the .iso as an "image file" (not a data file)

    4. Reboot you computer and press "DEL" to go into BIOS settings and make sure BOOT PRIORITY is set as FLOPPY-1st, CD/DVD-ROM-2nd, HardDrive-3rd (just as long as cd/dvd-rom drive is BEFORE HardDrive)-exit and save

    5. Put the burned knoppix cd/dvd into the cd/dvd-rom drive while in windows and then reboot the computer.

Hopefully, if the .iso was burned correctly, it should boot into LINUX (just push <enter> at the prompt) and it should start reconizing your hardware and then start knoppix with KDE interface
....where you go from here is entirely up to you..."I can only show you the door, you're the one who has to walk through it"
