Running a Toshiba A30-714 laptop. Knoppix live CD 4.0.2 fails to detect USB drive and or Belkin 8 in one card reader. SCSI shows no device attached but a multitude of devices SDA1 to SDh9. Trial and error to try and mount the device reveals that no block device attached error.

Googling refers to the need to obtain apt-get sg3 utilties. I cannot find these on the disc and without access to USB cannot load them from elsewhere Are these included on KNoppix CD- if so where?

Are there cheat codes to make the SCSI device scan LUNS further or deeper?

By contrast KUBUNTU live disk detects device and reports that SDC1 not mounted. Appropriate root mount commands make it accessible.

On a different topic is there a code or command which will enable the Knoppix CD to be ejected temporarily while one inserts and burns a CD with the contents of the hard disk on it?

The automatic detection of USB Devices (without fuss and/or root commands to mount disks) and the ability to burn CD's would be of immense help to those with inoperative windows systems and would make Knoppix the first point of call to fix damaged systems.

Many thanks
