    Knoppix and Hard Drives

I have searched but not found an answer that completely statisfies me regarding the following question:

Does Knoppix require a hard drive to be present in the computer where it will be used, or will it run anyway without one?

This question might seem absurd, but I just want to make sure.

No hard drive required (except on very old systems with 64 meg of memory or less where a swap file may be needed to bring up the KDE GUI).

Verifying of md5 checksum and burning a CD at slow speed are important.

How do you tell the size and usage of the swap file?
