    Modifying hardware autodetection

Are there any guides that document the hardware autodconfig system in Knoppix? I would like to learn more about this system and possibly remaster it. Should I just start digging into
    /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig
to learn about it or are there any guides?

I'm trying to boot on a laptop with no hard disk. This is confusing the hardware autoconfiguration script.
I tried it with a NOSCSI boot option and it worked, but I'd like to hard-code this so I don't have to remember it each time.

    Yours,
    Noah

    Hi,

Since my HD died last week, I have been using knoppix 3.9 with a CF card reader to store the configuration and files downloaded from the internet. It seems to work fine, but I am having a bit of trouble detecting my new printer, a Lexmark Z617. Knoppix 3.7 do detect my printer, but when I added the printer class it asks me for a driver, which I don't have. Kn_3.9 don't seem to detect my printer at all (it doesn't show on the USB list). Could it be what you mention? It could, but I have no way to verify until I get my new HD.
