You can use any number bootloaders/ boot managers to select which OS to boot Do a search right here for GAG. You will find a post about an easy to use boot manager as well as info about /etc/lilo.conf files. Also search for dual boot. There has been ALOT of discussion here about it already.

The following will be of help to you when you get set up to dual boot. If you installed Knoppix already and chose 'do not install LILO in MBR' then you installed LILO to / or 'root' partition.

Keep in mind though- the best way to learn is to just do it. If you choose to install LILO to the MBR and your WINXP won't boot you can restore it by booting a WIN98 boot floppy and entering

    a:\fdisk mbr

Beware- WINXP updates may make your NIC unusable. See here and here
