    Persistent home issues..

I created an image with the utility on the knoppix dvd on a NTFS partition. I boot in knoppix and then i used 'Create a persistent image'.. i select the partition, it formats the image it says it is ok. Then i set up my network card for example, and then restart computer.
I reboot in knoppix, it finds the virtual image and i am prompted for the open mode of the image.. select all, click ok and then it loads knoppix. Unfortunately, the settings are not loaded so i have to set up again everything (like the network card). Plus, every time i restart in windows after i used the image, it runs check disk at startup. Is it normal?

so.. how can i make that image work and save the settings (saving on floppy doesn't help me, i don't have floppy disk drive, nor usb)

PS: Is it true that you can write on fat32 drives? (Mount them, change permissions to write and done)

    Thanks in advance,
    Pepene.

    Yes it's true.
But it isn't for ntfs, in which you can only_read don't_write, and I guess this is the issue you have now.

    even more issues.. :(

so.. i reformated my hard disk and now i have an ext2 partition, i mount it in knoppix, everything ok.
i can even save my cfg files to it and then at boot prompt it works with knoppix myconfig=scan.

BUT, i tried to make a persistent home into the newly partition, it works just fine, it says it's done and i should restart my pc. I restart it and at the boot prompy knoppix home=scan and nothing found. I also tried with knoppix home=/mnt/hda6 but sill nothing found. Also, in knoppix the image exists on the drive.

Another problem comes when i try to write something to the disk.. it's acces denied (yes, i turned off read-only so it is writable and i set read & write permissions to everybody). I downloaded firefox for example, saved in the temp folder (ramdisk probably) and then i tried to copy it to /mnt/hda6 but it won't let me. So that's why i wanted to create the home on that drive so i can write in tmp folder on my local disk..

Any help regarding writing the disk or the persistent home is very appreciated. THANKS, pepene.

i reformated my hd to fat32 and now it works just fine everything :>

one last question though.. having a virtual image saves automatically every setting i do? and if yes, saving the configuration and loading it with knoppix myconfig=scan becomes unnecesary or should i use it?
