Writing to Hard Disk on Windows XP

I have successfully booted Quantian DVD on my new laptop that has Windows XP installed. However it seems I cannot write to the hard disk as it is NTFS and linux doesn't fully support it. Is there anyway I can use Quantian to save files on my hard disk or anywhere at all for that matter?

You can use a properly formatted external hard drive or USB drive. You can also re-partition your hard drive to allow use of a non-NTFS partition. There is a live cd version of gparted at: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/index.php Use caution and back up EVERTHING you wish to save, BEFORE doing anything with your drive. It has been reported to work on NTFS partitions. As to whether it is safe or not, you are on your own.

if you want, you can try to conver your partition from NTFS to FAT (dont know what that might do to your windows, though ...)
or format as FAT and reinstall. This will make it possible to write under linux, and also to acess it under DOS (what for ? ^^)
