AutoDetect Hardware

When Knoppix is booting it starts to say:
Autodetecting Hardware...
and then it just makes a bar go across and does nothing!
I have had to boot Windows (which is pain in the bottom!), so please could someone help

This usually means there is some hardware which is giving Knoppix some trouble in setting up. Could you describe what hardware peripherals you have, e.g. what kind fo graphics card, what kind of network card and especially what kind of usb devices you have attached to the computer?
