How to return to KDE from a GNOME desktop?
From the standard KDE desktop (Knoppix 4.0.2) that loads after bootup I was able to navigate to a GNOME desktop but I am unable to find my way back. In addition, how can I access the 'Save KNOPPIX configuration' from the GNOME desktop?
Can anyone help?

try to end SESSION, in the left corner like the startuo in win...
then it shows the windows to login, ok?
you can see various options... don't you? navigate by these options in the login screen and you can find the way to change between kde, gnome or just others.
i hope this ressolves your problem
p.d.: other way to get the login screen is to shutdown and restart
good luck

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I am not too clear about what you said I should do. Meanwhile, I managed to find a solution. From the GNOME desktop the sequence
Applications > Debian Menu > Knoppix > Utilities > Choose/Restart KNOPPIX Desktop > kde
will bring back the KDE desktop. However, there are problems. The top and bottom panels of the GNOME desktop are still in place when the KDE desktop appears. Moreover, most of the original KDE desktop icons (specifically those corresponding to hard disks and their partitions) vanish leaving only three icons on the KDE desktop that appears. If the KDE desktop is restarted (from this 'faulty' KDE desktop) via the sequence
Knoppix (KDE desktop bottom panel icon) > Utilities > Choose/Restart KNOPPIX Desktop > kde
the GNOME desktop panels disappear and the missing KDE desktop icons reappear making the new KDE desktop almost like the original one, except for the fact that the 'trash' desktop icon appears twice.
Finally, while in the GNOME desktop, the sequence
Applications > Debian Menu > Knoppix > config
allows one to select either 'Create a persistent KNOPIX disk image' or 'Save KNOPPIX configuration' as the next option in order to save configuration and other data. However, since I did not follow this path in order to save my configuration, I cannot comment on how well this may work
