Can I change the default directory for the "cmg" f
Every time klik installs the program, it downloads it on the desktop. It is garbaging the desktop.
I want klik to download these files into ~/.klik, for example.

You can move the cmg files to any location you want (including but not limited to ~/klik, /opt/klik, CD-ROM or USB thumbdrive).
