scripts cannot be read and I cannot initiate 5.1.1

Good evening to all and thanks in advance for reading my message. I have installed knoppix 5.1.1 on /dev/hdc2 but when the system is initiating there is a kernel panic and it is warned the /SCRIPTS can't be read at /dev/hdc2? How can I solve it? Thanks very very much for your help. Cezar
