Knoppix 5.1.1 Open Office Launch Causes System to Re-Start

I have succesfully booted Knoppix CD-Live version 5.1.1. When I try to launch Open Office the system re-starts after the Open Office tries to load. The system re-starts with the voice greeting and the display of the desktop. Most Knoppix functions seem to work fine, and there are no error messages. Anyone's help on the cause and/or remedy would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
