problem connecting to internet

Try both the above URL and IP in Iceweasel also.

first I wanted to say that there is eth1 but since it's wlan I didn't think it would mather

and when it comes to ping

pinging www.knoppix.net gave:
Unknown host

and pinging the ip gave: Network is unreachable

And when I put it into iceweasel it showed

Firefox can't find the server for www.knoppix.net

and Unable to connect
firefox can't establish a connection
for the ip

there might be something really elementar I have overlooked since I'm not really good with computers

What happens when you ping or give Iceweasel 72.36.188.40 instead of the url?

You're right, I don't care anout the wlan, but it's nice to know why eth1 was skipped. eth2 seems to be the NIC you are connected to the router with, any insight on what eth0 is?

72.36.188.40 gives:

Unable to connect
firefox can't establish a connection

I did'nt put it so well. but this happened when I put in the number.

and this: Firefox can't find the server came up with the url

and when it comes to the eth0 I have no idea. could it be the modem?
