The best way I have found, is to use the install script wriiten by Christian Perle on the knoppix CD.

So here goes... boot cd up, then from KDE menu knoppix >root console

Once rootconsole is up... type knx-hdinstall. That's it.... follow the script....easy..

Th e script will even set up lilo, this will allow you to dual boot Linux / windows..

I have done many HD installs in this manner, I have found it to be very effective.

Do not try to write to ntfs you must free up space for a /swap and / partition use a program like Partition Magic to free up some space on the ntfs partition and create two partitions one for /swap and one for / the / partition must be larger than 2.2GB the /swap should be twice the size of your RAM if you have less than 256MB.

yep- the default delay setting in LILO should give you time enough to select an OS to boot. Be advised however that people who dual boot w/ wimpdoze tend to boot win less and less often after a Linux install.
