Remastering Ubuntu

Has anyone looked into the way the Ubuntu live CD works? Is it similar to Knoppix? Anyone tried to remaster it?

Yes, lots of people have done that.

Apart from being a semi-Debian-based live CD, no. Ubuntu is arranged differently, uses squashfs, and if I remember right, it uses an initramfs and grub. These last 2 bits are pretty hazy in my memory, though.

Yes, it's easy to remaster. There are lots of HOWTO's out there. The last time I did it, I followed http://wiki.oss-watch.ac.uk/UbuntuDapper/Remaster, which worked fine with Edgy. I haven't played with Feisty.
