Bittorrent download over old knoppix.iso
when the new version of the 4gig plus episal comes, wondering if it is possible to change the name of a copy of the old version to that of the name of the new knoppix version and then ask bittorrent to check it for accuracy from the new link.
so assuming that there will be a lot of duplication, will this work? will it save in the amount of MB that need to be downloaded?.

BitTorent can do a lot of tricks, in some cases even fix a corrupted download that was attempted from the mirrors. But since the Knoppix file is compressed, I don't see how an old version could even begin to match the new version. If you want to prove this for yourself, try the following:
1) have an "old" version of the Knoppix ISO.
2) Start a BitTorrent download of the new Knoppix files into a new location.
3) Give it a few minutes to start downloading files, confirm that you have something that ends in .iso in the target directory.
4) Shut down BitTorrent cleanly.
5) Make note of the exact name of the ISO file. Delete it.
6) Move the "old" ISO file into the directory. Rename it to match the name you recorded, exactly.
7) Restart BitTorrent. Watch as it checks the ISO file to see what segments are good.
Eight) Report back here your results and what versions you used.
By the way, while I don't believe your approach would work, it would be a quick and easy way for someone who downloaded the wrong language version to correct the mistake. There are other more technical ways to make the fix, and I really question why Klaus doesn't just have one download and a very teeny tiny utility to change the language (which would make the torrents much more efficent), but BitTorrent could change one language to the other by steps similar to the above and would only need to repair a sector or two (plus and suplimental files that come in the alternate language).

yes, that is what I had in mind. thank you for putting more detail into the method. The language change you suggest also seems a very right move. also, if it does work, the time between version upgrades need not be so long if there is no need for such long downloads.
