Firstly, I am completely, utterly new at Linux. In fact, I have never heard of Knoppix, nor have I operated any Linux distribution before today. So... I apologize for any possible displays of a lack of intelligence in this post and hope for your patience.

What Happened:

Windows broke.

What I did:

- Did a lot of research
- Used a university computer to burn a Knoppix CD
- Ran Knoppix, moved important files from the partition with Windows on it to a partition for data storage
- Destroyed the partition with Windows on it
- Re-partitioned the newly available spaces appropriately and installed Knoppix on HDD

What I hope to achieve:

- Burn the data in the partition for data storage onto DVDs/CDs
- Burn a DVD from an existing image of an OS
- Format the entire HDD, re-partition, install new OS

The Problems:

- Knoppix does not come with any software for burning
- I cannot get an older version of Knoppix (which, as I understand it, would include K3B) due to the lack of access to another computer with burning capabilities

So confused~~

Perhaps someone could walk me through the installation of K3B on Knoppix?

I just want to save my data and install a new OS.......
