Seems it is just a matter of "renumbering" ......

Tested linux 3.0 RC1 to run knoppix. It works, pretty much like any other kernel upgrades. There is nothing which are out of my expectation.

But of course, the usual problem of knoppix on new kernel still applies, ie have to find/modify/compile the aufs and cloop kernel module.

These days the author of aufs have been pretty slow on aufs development. I hope he won't drop his support for aufs one day.

kl522, isn't unionfs nearly the same as aufs but more maintained?

and you still need cloop when you patched it to use squashfs?

unionfs is the predecessor to the current aufs2.1, as result, 'unionfs' is used interchangeably to mean 'aufs'. I ***THINK*** UNIONFS is no more maintained.

Realistically speaking for my usage, cloop can be skipped but I try as much as possible try to also get it compiled to maintain backward compatibility. It depends on how 'minirt.gz' has been modified.
