Iptstate on Knoppix 6.4.4 - not working

Where do we stand on this in Knoppix 6.7?

Had to do the following to make it work.

modprobe ip_conntrack

Though I came across another problem (not confiming). dpkg seems to give error after couple of package installation in persistent knoppix-data.img.
