Ubuntu 11.10 i386 LiveUSB vs Knoppix & PCLinuxOS

I've used ubuntu 11.04 for a month or two and now have ubuntu 11.10 - pretty impressive application. However, thought I'd look around because:

- I would prefer, when running linux from a USB stick to have the same screen look display on my desktop as my laptop - my desktop gets forced to unity with 11.04
- With 11.10 it will run on my laptop, but so far not on my desktop
- My right-side touchpad scroll does not work in either ubuntu 11.10 or 11.04

Don't wish to blast ubuntu, really like it and the forums, but still because of the issues above, thought I'd look around a little.

- With Knoppix 6.7 - my touchpad right-side scroll works (thank you)
- So far haven't figured out how to install Firefox, but still looking - tried sudo apt-get install mozilla-firefox and that returned "Unable to locate packae mozilla-firefox" will check for typo on my part.

The next thing I've tried to do with knoppix is change the digital clock settings - not sure where the parameters are documented - looking for 4 digit year.

Knoppix seems to boot fast and thought I'd wander around a little and join the discussion to maybe learn the + and -

Hi, Dave.
In Knoppix 6.7.1, IceWeasel replaces Chromium.
IceWeasel is essentially Firefox under the hood.
Use Synaptic to install IceWeasel; also install flashplugin-nonfree if you want flash.

Thanks - with ubuntu 11 and mint 12 working on "improving" the interface, it is nice to be looking a distro that is consistent and runs the same way on different PCs.

correction - previous thread - ubuntu on my desktop is forced to classic not unity.
