After a long leave of absence from Knoppix, I returned a couple of days ago troubled by a hardware recognition problem. As expected, Knoppix (6.7.1 CD) sailed through hardware recognition flawlessly but ran into an annoying problem elsewhere. It simply fails to open or download e-mail attachments from yahoo mail that have titles spelled in a foreign language (Greek) and consisting of strings of words separated by blank spaces . This problem occurred with .doc and .jpg files. In particular, attempting to open the .jpg attachments results in an empty image viewer window while those of .doc type end up with an empty spreadsheet. When attempting to download these files, an error message pops up stating that the attachment to be downloaded has an illegal name. Can anyone suggest any way to solve this problem?
