Remastering to be able for cheatcode "knoppix toram"

    hi,

i just downloaded the 7.0.1 DVD in german.

i tried with the cheatcode "knoppix toram" to run the system from RAM.
yeah, of course it didnt worked - i have only 512Mb RAm on my laptop.. so expected some problems.

one time the coping-process just stopped without a word in to eternity.
the second time it said not enough space or something similar. it was talking something about 380 MB.
the third time it just said "Kill Kill" each line...

so i want to remaster knoppix to be able to boot into RAM and run it from there.
i guess since its a DVD i have to get rid of a looooot of things. but im not sure, if uninstalling applications is enough. i guess i have to hack a little in some init-files. im totally a linux noob so thats gonna be a hard task for me.

can anyone give me a hint where to start and where to end?

    thanks alot in the meanwhile!
    cu

It would be a lot easier if you fond a 7.0.1 CD to remaster than a 7.0.1 DVD.

I read somewhere here that it is possible to save space by deleting files in /usr/share/doc.
    But leave the virtualbox files.

With 512MB of RAM you could run into problems even with a smaller Knoppix ISO.
An alternate solution could be to use the cheatcodes tohd and fromhd instead of toram.
tohd stores the Knoppix DVD/CD on a harddrive partion or USB memory.
Then boot from the DVD/CD as usual and continue running Knoppix from harddrive using the fromhd cheatcode.
