Dire need of assistance!

Hi one and all!.....Until now I've been using Windows XP SP3. A few days ago both of my computers OS's crashed due to a bastard virus. Yesterday a friend gave me this cd containing Linux...said I can get online with it and may find some assist'. Compared to Windows it's like trying to navigate an alien spacecraft . Ideally I need someone to talk me through the finer points. I'm 47yo, M and residing in Austalia. I'm prepared to telephone anywhere in the world to get live assistance or communicate via e-mail......darren5238@gmail.com....Live assist' preferred at my expense. Dude, it comes with web browser, and if your NIC or wireless is working, all you have to do is open (from the menu) preferences/network connections. Walla, set that up and you're online. Right then. Usually without needing drivers.
Other than that, I would suggest you getting a BartPE boot cd when you get winblows running.
