/dev/console and init error after kernel upgrade (FIXED, FYI

    Hi Knoppix users,
I just had a problem where after upgrading the kernel on my knoppix hdd install, I kept getting INIT ID "1" respawning to fast errors and KDM wouldn't start.
After diggin around in the logs and trying a few things, it turns out that the console devices are not made properly in the HDD install.

changing dir to /dev and running ./MAKEDEV console fixed the problem and now I can use all my consoles again and KDM starts ok.

hope that helps anyone else - if there is someone where else I should be posting this let me know

    kernel upgrade on hdd install?

Have been running Knoppix from hd for 2 months, tried to upgrade the kernel: 'apt-get install kernel-2.4.20-686'. No errors.
Ran LILO after editing it: added 'initrd=/initrd.img' to the 'image=/vmlinuz-2.4.20-686' stanza. No errors.
    Rebooted.
Both "Caps-lock" and "Scroll-lock" leds on keyboard start blinking simultaniously, then nothing...
Obviously I'm missing something, hope someone can point me to it?
