    Greetings beirapadua!

You did not write anything about your pointing device. Is it a real mouse, a trackball or a touchpad? How is it connected to your system (USB, PS/2, Bluetooth or wireless)? How many buttons does your device have? Is it a wheelmouse?

I've loaded from DVD also, it is PAINFULLY slow...is there a workaround for this at all?

Did you confirm the MD5 checksum? Did you burn your DVD at a low speed (4x suggested, no higher than 8x)? Having a good copy of the ISO and burning at low speed really do make a big difference.

Verifying of md5 checksum and burning a CD at slow speed are important.

Thanks a lot Harry. previously i have written it using 'auto' speed in k3b. After changing the speed to 3x (..extra precaution, though 4x was recommended) my problem has been SOLVED

Yup. Thanks for the confirmation, but it has been proven over and over here that low speed burning is important. The implication is that it is always important, but sometimes you don't realize it because there is usually enough error correction data to cover up the problem.
