One too many Desktop icons in Knoppix 6.7.1 for my taste

    .
Somewhere in the start-up sequence, a symbolic link KNOPPIX -> /mnt-system
gets written to /home/knoppix/Desktop/. This places an icon on the desktop.
    I rarely need to re-assure myself what's in/on /mnt-system; and,
I'd prefer to arrange my own desktop without this icon.

Can anyone tell me specifically, what little piece of code is responsible for this?

Many thanks. You deserve another star.
And, I am so glad it wasn't minirt.gz.

    Works like a charm.
Any ideas why KK put that there in the first place?
    And, thanks again.

I think it is put there as a "poor-man's persistence", because if you are using life usb, even without setting up persistent storage, anything you write to that folder will persist. That is a place where it can utilize the free space on the USB.
