Boot, USB 3.0 PCIe Add-on card, No "expansion ROM," No "ROM emulation"

Beginner, here --To obtain 3.0 capability I added a USB PCIe expansion card (Renasas controller) to an older computer (MSI G41M-P25).

Everything works as it should except I can't boot from the 3.0 USB flash device attached to the card, because this computer's BIOS doesn't recognize the device as "bootable" -- either because it doesn't recognize any device on a PCI bus as "bootable" or because it doesn't recognize any USB 3.0 device as "bootable."

ASSUME the card does not include "expansion ROM" or "ROM emulation." (Likely, it was only $13)

Is there some way I can boot from a device plugged into this card?

Note: If asking for info please give me the command to get the info. As I said, I'm a beginner.

A possible answer to my either/or speculation, above.

I attached a 2.0 flash drive to the card. Earlier -- when the device was attached to a 2.0 port -- the BIOS had recognized that device as bootable. No longer. It seems that anything attached to the PCI bus which doesn't have its own ROM isn't bootable by this BIOS.

    Hi Ellen1910,

if you use Knoppix V7.0.5 or Knoppix V7.2.0 you can download an ISO file of the appropriate bootonly CD. It is used to burn a Knoppix boot CD. After you have created such a CD you can plug your flash device into the USB3 port and boot from this CD. You will see the usual boot screen where you have to enter the cheat codes if needed. During boot up the system will search for your KNOPPIX directory on all HDDs and flash devices. You can remove the bootonly CD after the system has been set up.

The idea, though, is to improve my bootup time. I'm sure your solution would work, but it would be slower -- way slower -- than simply booting Knoppix from a USB2.0 device which is what I do, now.

Is there a way to circumvent my motherboard's BIOS limitation and boot the USB3.0 drive, directly?
