    Probelm when remastering

Hello. I tried remaster knoppix, using this info: http://ftp.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto I was interessed only in update openssl package, so only this was done in chroot, all ok, but when do to build the iso image this error occurs:

    9] Blk# 165700, [ratio/avg. 48%/ 41%], avg.speed: 1504937 b/s, ETA: 24411s I: -input-charset not specified, using utf-8 (detected in locale settings)
File /media/sda1/knx/master/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX is larger than 4GiB-1. -allow-limited-size was not specified. There is no way do represent this file size. Aborting. Finished!
Used time: 28 min. and 2 sec. The new ISO is stored in '/media/sda1/knx/remastered.iso' root@Microknoppix:/media/sda1/knx#

The knoppix used was 7.2.0, in a virtual machine, 3gb of ram and the partition /dev/sda1 was ext4 with 60 gb
Just for update openssl package should not be a reason for not be able of build the remaster, i mean in file space occuped, i use this in a usb with fat32, so, i need the 4gb file size limit. Whan can i do? Thanks

You cannot remaster the Knoppix DVD without deinstall some of the big applications. The size of the compressed filesystem KNOPPIX is already at the limit of 4GB and even little modifications will exceed this size. But why not use the flash disk install with an USB stick of 8GB at least?

Hello. I have 8GB USB stick, but fat32 have 4Gb limit, for avoid the limit, the usb can be formatted in ext4, for example? Thanks

Have a look at Hard drive Installation

The simple way to use Knoppix is the "Flash disk install".
The tricky way is to use the "Poor man's install"; here you can use ext4, but this doesn't lift the limit of 4GB for the compressed file system KNOPPIX.

I understand the workaround, but what i'm trying to understand is why remastering the original DVD 7.2 without any change on chroot, change the size to more than 4GB

    Code:
    # Make the big compressed filesystem KNOPPIX
    genisoimage -input-charset ISO-8859-15 -R -l -D -V KNOPPIX_FS -quiet \
       -no-split-symlink-components -no-split-symlink-fields \
       -hide-rr-moved -cache-inodes $PFAD/knx/source/KNOPPIX \
      | /usr/sbin/create_compressed_fs -q -B 65536 -t 8 -L 9 \
      -f $PFAD/knx/isotemp - $PFAD/knx/master/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX
The size of the compressed filesystem KNOPPIX depends on the compression level of "create_compressed_fs". Have a look about this with
    Code:
    create_compressed_fs --help
I've used in the script "-L 9". If you'll use "-L -2", the compression part takes many, many hours. And I don't know, which compression parameters K Knopper uses to get the best result of compression.

Werner, I think we have an issue before the create_compressed_fs .
Just after finishing the step on script number 1 ...
cp -rp /KNOPPIX/* $PFAD/knx/source/KNOPPIX, and running du on source and destination they have different size, source reports 9944892 and the target says 10911128, so I think is something related to links.
Maybe this is way when compress it turns big, probably because of duplicated files on target.

Tried -b and also "-L -2" ,without success, continue generating 4306MB
