Hello Bernhard!
Hardware ok by then? Size of RAM?
Did you test the RAM with the cheatcode "memtest" for some hours?
When I try to boot Knoppix 7.1 or 7.0.5 on an older Notebook (PIIIM, 1GHz) mounting KNOPPIX fails miserably with an error message that the file might be corrupt. Booting knoppix testcd does not reveal any errors and booting on a newer system (Pentium Dual Core E4500) is no Problem at all.
Does somebody have a clue, what might be the Problem and how to check it?

Hi Werner,
> Hardware ok by then? Size of RAM?
most probably a hardware problem.
Booting old woody, mounting the cdrdom and trying md5sum /cdrom/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX yields read error messages after about 20 minutes. I don't see any reason for that, but the cause might be due the 8-12x RW media, the drive or anything else ...
I don't know if I have the time to check every possible cause.
