Upgrade from Knoppix v7.4 on an 16Gb USB flash disk to 7.4.2 on the same pendrive

    Hello.
    I'm using right now v7.4 on a 16Gb pendrive. Have a KNOPPIX_V7.4.2DVD-2014-09-28-EN.iso checked with md5sum.
    My home size is 3.9GB.
Is there same way to upgrade to v7.4.2 on the same pendrive keeping my settings?
Is it possible to have a home of a greater size?

The version I am using now was made with pendrivelinux.

    Thanks!

Use 2 USB drives, one for permanent document or image or file storage

Some possibility. If your computer has two USB positions. Buy a second USB drive. Format as EXT4. Copy existing /home contents to this drive. Using old pendrive, from Knoppix 7.4.2 DVD create a new Knoppix system with say 12GB Knoppix system, remainder of USB as overlay (e.g. 16GB USB would give 12GB system and 4Gb overlay) Then start Knoppix 7.4.2, add your set up as you want, then mount second USB drive and use it to store documents etc as a separate USB drive. Thus documents etc are stored independently of knoppix version on system drive.

I finally got a 10.2 GiB home using
    - My old 7.4 USB
    - A second USB
    - flash-knoppix program described in http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online...th-Knoppix-7.3

Now the second USB is the pendrive with v7.4.2 that I'm using right now.

    Thanks, eionmac!
