    Some Knoppix app updates you might have missed

    .
    If some of your Knoppix apps are not behaving well, they may need an update.

    Usually a re-load of Synaptic will present some new opportunities, but if
    that fails, there's one other spot in Knoppix you should look at before you
    start composing a forum thread. Look at MainMenu>Knoppix>install components.

    You might be surprised to learn their are five updates there currently:
    These are for audacity, flash, mplayer, openshot and ttf-mscorefonts.

    Does the Flash option work, when running from a Live DVD? It did up to about 6 months ago (but could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to get the Flash update installed for me), but last summer it stopped working and I could no longer use it to get a working copy of Flash.

    Verifying of md5 checksum and burning a CD at slow speed are important.

    Yes, it works for me.

    Surprise is, it is only a small bump up of the 11.2.202.400+ to 11.2.202.429.
    The version change is so small, one might wonder how long it's good-for.

    Also a surprise that it comes via Google for MX & Chromium and via Klaus K for Iceweasel & Knoppix;
    anyway that's the way the Iceweasel flash update came to my rig.

    FWIW, install components needs an internet connection. With broadband it comes in fast here.
    If your connection is spotty it may not be so uneventful.
