I'm a bit confused on what you want to do (restart the network or configure it?) but to restart the network you must be root and do:configuring the network is another matter.Code:/etc/init.d/networking restart
How do i restart the network so that i can get my settings initialized to enable acces to the internet?

Will that save the settings and changes i made to the network .conf files?
It shouldn't affect the conf files at all, just restart the daemons / scripts.
How do i edit the .conf files then. That is what i am tring to do but it wont let me save them becasue it is a read only CD..
You're right, the Knoppix disc isn't writeable. That means you'll have to use some other medium like a floppy disk or the hard drive to save your data to. In most cases you can mount a floppy disk by doing (IIRC):and then saving your data to the /floppy/ directory.Code:mount /floppy
